It's the first key that's unknown to me... the second matches up with
the activation key assigned to this distribution. Perhaps I'm missing
something about how this is supposed to work.

every kickstart profile in Spacewalk has a default activation key used
with it, the 1st one you are seeing is the one associated with the
profile, the 2nd is your custom key.

Yeah but the redhat_register cobbler snippet in Cobbler doesn't grok two
keys in there, so this looks strange to me.
Have you forked that snippet?
