First off, I have installed a new v1.0 Spacewalk server that does not have the Proxy component installed. I have successfully registered both 32 and 64 bit clients to the server and when I perform #yum repolist, I see the correct repos listed and packages on the new Spacewalk server.
I am wondering if I'm missing something here...I was under the impression that my registered clients can get fully updated from my Spacewalk server, assuming I have the respective base channels created and packages downloaded. Repository sync URLs set in my 2 channels ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/enterprise/5Server/en/os/x86_64/De buginfo/ ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/enterprise/5Server/en/os/i386/Debu ginfo/ There are over 4,000 packages (but all listed with "debug" in their titles) in the x86_64 channel and I'm pulling over the i386 packages now. I have several clients registered and showing up as managed systems with their correct base channels on the Spacewalk server. From the clients, #yum update Loaded plugins: rhnplugin, security Skipping security plugin, no data Setting up Update Process No Packages marked for Update Yet, when I was registered with Red Hat's update servers and ran the #yum update, it showed over 100 packages and Eratta that needed updating. Why do I see no packages to be updated when I point the client to my server? #yum repolist Loaded plugins: rhnplugin, security repo id repo name status epel Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux 5 - x86_64 enabled: 5,539 rhel-x86_64 RHEL5-64bit enabled: 4,098 spacewalk-client Spacewalk Client Tools enabled: 23 repolist: 9,660 Maybe I'm completely incorrect in my assumption I can update my RHEL5 clients with the Spacewalk server directly. Any ideas why my clients don't see any packages marked for update when I know there are?
