Thanks Michael for the clarification, you are correct. The plugin is general 
for libzypp. So, yes, yast should work. It's just a habit for me to always use 
the zypper from the command line.

You may have already done this, but here's something to double check...

Logon to the Spacewalk GUI and verify that your SuSE system is actually 
subscribed to the desired channel (and child channel, if you followed my 
example).

About the error: Are you sure, that mirror process on spacewalk of the suse 
repos is finished and the metadata are already created?

Missing metadata could be a reason why yast display this message.
