Hello sidd ,

Thanks for your reply. Basically I am looking at getting some reports of knowing which server do not have those patches and then pushing them. Blade logic gives a lot of flexibility which i am looking for here.

Only way I could understand which gives some comparison is by creating profile and then comparing them with servers. But confusion is the profiles get some packages which I am don't know where it got picked from and why only those specific packages.

There are multiple ways of doing this depending on some related factors. Do those 10 packages have dependencies? Are those dependencies already installed on the clients? If they are, then just create a custom software channel, add those packages to your channel and push those packages to your clients.

If you don't know if those packages have dependencies, then just select those 10 hosts in Spacewalk, push packages and then select the 10 packages you want to install.

Sidd.

Subject: Patch management use case
Importance: High

Hello Team,

I have a use case which I am trying to test using spacewalk.

I have 10 packages which I want to push on multiple server.

I have made a group for these servers and both of them are subscribed to the same software channel. I want to create a group containing these 10 packages and patch then on a systems group containing multiple servers. From my understanding so far is that I might need to create a child channel of the parent each time and subscribe those servers to this child channel each time . ( although I have not been able to create a child channel as of now)

If my understand is not correct, please point me to a documentation which I can follow to achieve this use case since it’s not very clear.

Regards

Dhiraj
