Dear Spacewalk users,
I can't install Spacewalk 2.2 from scratch on a RHEL 6.5 server.
I tried to install following the HowToInstall 2.2 on Spacewalk wiki.
I added all needed repos and I haven't any dependency issue.
I only have this error message :
Error: Package: python-devel-2.6.6-36.el6.x86_64 (rhel-dvd)
Requires: python(x86-64) = 2.6.6-36.el6
Installed: python-2.6.6-52.el6.x86_64 (@rhel-6-x86_64)
python(x86-64) = 2.6.6-52.el6
Available: python-2.6.6-36.el6.x86_64 (rhel-dvd)
python(x86-64) = 2.6.6-36.el6
I guess I can't downgrade Python as it's linked to many system components.
Are you using a combination of live RedHat repositories (Base channel
only) and the install DVD?
It looks like you updated the python RPM from the live repos after
installation. Most likely the python-devel package is available in the
Optional channel (and not Base) and you have to manually make it
available for your system in RHN. The full DVD contains the Optional
packages aswell, albeit in an older version. After doing so you should
be able to install python-devel in the same version as the python package.
