for email alerts they should be on by default as long as you create an
account with a valid email address. Can the box itself send emails
correctly? You may need to use "postconf -e 'relay.host=X.X.X.X' " to
configure postfixes mail relay (thats off the top of my head though so it
is postonf but maybe not the relay.host!)
