We've been doing some preliminary tests with large databases and high volumes of mail. Our first target for optimization is moving the spam/ham counts into a separate table. The bayes_toks table is getting locked for a considerable amount of time while it's doing the select count(*) from .....
We were surprised to see that table getting locked for this query, there may be some other way around it but we haven't found it yet. Perhaps this has already addressed.
