isn't the problem that the long line of "..................." matches this part
of the regexp:
[\d\.]+
? If so, something like this:
body DRUG_DOSAGE m{\$? {0,10}(?:\d|\.){1,10} {0,10}\$? {0,10}(?:\\|/|per)
{0,10}(?:d.?o.?s.?e|p.?i.?l.?l)}i
(that's Jesse's RE, with Keith's note taken into account, and all * replaced by
{0,10}) would avoid it.
