We've discussed stuff like this before, and there are some other tickets currently open concerning the operation of the autolearning algorithm (a quick search found 27 tickets). Frankly though, in testing the current autolearn algorithm works pretty well, so there isn't a huge push to change it. If you would like to try out different changes to the algorithm and post some test results, that'd be appreciated.
