1. Messages marked as SPAM will have the following header (or similar): X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.55 (1.174.2.19-2003-05-19-exp)
That should identify the version for you. Note only messages that score will have this header. 2. By default spamassassin makes no changes to the subject line. Your ISP may have decided to change the default implementation however. The default action for emails that are rated above the spam threshold (which is 5 by default) is to attach the spam email to a spam report. If your ISP is using spamassassin then they should have told you how they have implemented it. 3. You'll need shell access to your ISPs Redhat box, but something like this in your user-prefs should work: blacklist_from [EMAIL PROTECTED] I prefer not to blacklist domains at all, they are easily forged anyway. -----Original Message----- From: Dan Lee [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 05 August 2003 16:14 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [SAtalk] general question Hey, I'm new to this mailing list, and to spamassassin for that matter. Couple quick questions. 1. How do I tell which version of spamassassin my isp is running? They're hosting us on a Redhat box. 2. Am I correctly using spamassassin when I don't get any email that is marked with the subject being ****SPAM****. I'm curious because that seems to be the default way that spamassassin marks email it considers as spam, but I'm wondering if it might be getting routed to another inbox, and not sent to the end users. At any rate, the people at my company never receive mail tagged as spam in the subject line. (Please forgive the newbie question as I am --- well a newbie to spamassassin.) It should also be noted that spamassassin was set up by someone other than myself originally. 3. What file and syntax would I use to blacklist a domain name? Any help appreciated, dan
