hmm, sorry mate.
i should have said this earlier, so i do it now. i was able to fix it for
sendmail/milterassassin/spamd . at laest the spam/ham count works ( top
spam receiver dont).
it works here using 'spamstats0.4b5.pl-fixed  /var/log/syslog'
w/o any further options, grabbing things like those from syslog:

Jan 22 18:36:02 spider spamd[22570]: clean message (-3.5/5.0) for
(unknown):108 in 5.4 seconds, 2861 bytes.

and:

Jan 22 18:36:01 spider spamd[22543]: identified spam (21.7/5.0) for
(unknown):108 in 9.3 seconds, 5868 bytes.

(if i recall it correctly).

its works here with sa 2.6x (currently 2.63) , maybe older versions might
fail (due to different log entries (?!) ).

sorry, if u run into trouble.
my perl skills arnt that good, creating a general fix :(
