People realize it. As soon as you develop a new spamproof system that's as robust and reliable as SMTP, distributed (i.e. no central CA), and based on open standards, along with the deployment scheme to make the transition from SMTP completely painless and transparent, let me know. I'll hop right on board. I'm not trying to shoot down the idea of a new system - I agree that something's needed.
