I got my personal Earthlink account some years back, by signing up at an
Earthlink kiosk I happened to some across in a mall, some time around 4PM.
By the time I got home and logged on for the first time at around 7:30pm, I
had something like 25 spams waiting for me. In 3.5 hours on a brand-new
account on a brand-new (to me) host.

Now, there are a couple of possibilities here:
a) Earthlink sends all new accounts to the "3.5 Million Email Addresses" CD
as soon as the account is activated.
b) Spamers send to username@<all popular domains> in the hopes of getting
hits.

Since my email address had been in uselessnet postings and web pages as
[EMAIL PROTECTED] for some 6-7 years before I got the Earthlink account, I
think I vote for option b).

Your boss's email account is probably his name, right? Would it happen to
be something like [EMAIL PROTECTED] I wonder how many "john@" accounts
there are in the US, never mind in the world...
