All,

I've been seeing some problems lately with my installation, and would love
to hear any suggestions y'all might have.

I'm running postfix (2.0.16) and spamassassin (2.60) on FreeBSD 4.8 using
the general Advosys installation, except that I've cut out the Anomy.

I'm noticing a lot of CPU utilization (minutes at over 80%), and our
correspondents are starting to get messages like the following:

----------snip----------
This is the Postfix program at host zetmail2.zetron.com.

I'm sorry to have to inform you that the message returned
below could not be delivered to one or more destinations.

If you do so, please include this problem report. You can

                        The Postfix program

<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: Command time limit exceeded:
"/usr/local/anomy/filter.sh"
----------snip----------

I have the follwing rules in effect:

        backhair.cf, bigevil.cf, chickenpox.cf
        local.cf, nov2rules.cf, obfu1.cf, random.cf
        tripwire.cf, weeds.cf
plus a white-black list of about 300 entries.

Just this morning I cut out the following rules:

        90fvgt.cf, 99_sare_fraud_post25x.cf, antidrug.cf
        coding_html.cf, domainnumbers.cf, evilnumbers.cf
        header_abuse.cf, ratware.cf, virii.cf
custom.cf <----- various minor rules that I lifted from the listserv

but I'm still seeing too much CPU utilization, and can't say for sure yet if
the timeouts and returned mail have stopped.

The box is a 600MHz Celeron, with 128MB RAM, serving 300 people for inbound
mail only, as a gateway to our Exchange server. We are not using any network
tests, but Bayes is autolearning.

Further investigation reveals a large number (more than 40) of the following
message in /var/log/messages:

        Mar 24 11:15:55 zetmail2 /kernel: pid 40624 (perl), uid 1001: exited
on signal 10

over the last 24 hours.
