Many mailing-list type things send a text part that says something to the
effect of "If you are reading this your mail reader doesn't support HTML, so
go buy something that is more likely to catch web bugs!"
I don't know if there is a standard wording for that so that they could
(possibly) be considered legitimate.
You are probably better off simply using the checks for long sequences of
nonsense words without punctuation. Those tests will nicely trigger on
either the text or html side.
