Besides, Rugby players eat hockey players for lunch. Padding is for
wusses. (I saw a game on TV in London in the mid 60s. My reaction
went something along the lines that those fellows are maniacs. That
impression was confirmed a year later when my thermodynamics professor
revealed himself as a Britisher Rugby player. I *STILL* faced him down
for a grade dispute. I got the right answer, showed one critical
intermediate result on the "work" side of the page. And not another
critter in the class got it right. I cheated - I'd had Thermo Chemistry
a couple semesters before the Thermodynamics course. I'd seen the basic
problem type before and the solution was "obvious." I explained that to
him, he checked on it, and I got my grade. He was maybe 5'11". I'm tall
at nearly 5' 10" in those days. That helped. He was more used to petite
people. So I had him off balance from the beginning. I'm naaaaaasty!

And hockey players are wusses. Padding indeed!
