Heh.  I know the feeling.  I've adminned a filter server for ISP
customers for a few years now;  many don't check their spam folder.

Dangerous.  VERY, *VERY* dangerous.  I'd strongly recommend against
autodeleting spam as it comes in unless this is a "private" corporate
server that does not handle paid customer email accounts, or a personal
server.

I've developed a Perl script that can automatically trim mbox spam
folders when called from cron daily, along with a "manual" version;  you
should be able to adapt them to your setup.  You can download them from
http://www.deepnet.cx/~kdeugau/spamtools/.
