On sunOS-5.8 try increasing the file descriptor limits in /etc/system
# For the shell fd limit
set rlim_fd_cur=512
# For the global max fd limit
set rlim_fd_max=8192
You can raise the shell limit to 1024 but be careful, some shells may cause problems beyond that limit.

"How many people in the audience use Linux?" - depending on the audience, it'll be 20 to 80 per cent. But when I ask, "How many of you use Google?" - every hand goes up. And my rejoinder is: "In that case, you all use Linux."

I'm doing some diagnostics. The problem might have
something to do with file descriptors. The default for
solaris is 256.
Anyway...I'll keep looking.

Spamass-milter is dying occassionally. Anyone know
what could cause this?

Mine too. I've asked this same question 3-4 times --
mine quits a couple
times a week on small load of 1-2000 emails -- using
DaemonTools to check
every 5 secs to keep it going.
Still find the program useful, but wish it would be
more stable.
