I just sent this note to my users and thought it might be of interest here as well. We are a small company (<40 full time) and I was wondering if these numbers reflected the community as a whole.

ps at this rate I'm going to break the million spams by the end of the year.

Hi folks,
Well in case you hadn't noticed the flood of junk mail has increased
rather dramatically. Last year at this time we were running 65/35 in
favor of the good messages. As you can see from the stats this year the
number of spam messages filtered has more than doubled in the last six
months. We are currently catching 99% of the spam hitting our
mailserver and I've had less than 100 False Positives in the
same time period. If we calculate the amount of time saved by not
having to manually sort our collective inboxes, my little filter has
saved the company 369.69 person/hours. Using the industry standard of 3
seconds/message to JHD.(just hit delete) Now you know why I seem a
little hostile toward the spammers out there.
Anyway, I thought you'd all like to see that the few that do get
through are just a teeny-tiny portion of what you would see without our
trusty Spamassassin program.
