You may want to cvsup your ports tree... The latest version of perl in the tree is 5.8.4. Which I believe is only one minor revision away from the latest release which is 5.8.5. And SA is at 2.63 which is the current release of SA. IME, while the ports tree may not be as quick to update, it is still fairly current, and it makes everything nice and clean.
