Summary: outlook crashes on startup - disables spambayes

Initial Comment:
I have outlook 2003 SP2 installed (fresh install of
operating system and applications). When I install
Spambayes 1.0.4 and start outlook, it crashes and
disables spambayes for the next startup.

The spambayes log file is completely empty.

Unfortunately, this isn't a bug with SpamBayes, but with a
library that SpamBayes uses (or possibly with DEP itself).
As such, all we can do is upgrade to a fixed version of the
library when/if there is one (which we will do).

More is in the original report:

[988095] DEP / NX causes Outlook to crash

Thanks for the hint - I am using an Athlon64 machine. I
added Outlook to the Data Execution Prevention list of
acceptable applications and it now works fine. Spambayes
should be modified in the future to not require this
change. For other users, the way to do this is to select
Properties on My Computer, switch to the advanced tab,
click on the performance settings button, switch to the
Data Execution Prevention tab and add outlook.exe to the
list.

Have you checked to see if this is a problem with DEP? (See
the FAQ for details).
