Have you ruled out the possibility that the messages
mean what they say, i.e. that there's a permission problem on your temp
directory? Maybe your shop doesn't want users adding stuff to the "Local
Settings" ("LOCALS~1") subdirectory of their cached roaming profiles, since that
can result in semi-permanent clutter on the client system. If that is the
problem, and you don't have the necessary privilege to fix it, try redefining
your %temp% environment variable to put the temp directory somewhere
else, e.g. in the roaming portion of your profile.
The double slashmarks in the error messages are wrong,
of course, but I assume that they're just an artifact of the error
reporting scheme. Possibly the messages are shared with the Unix version of
Spambayes, in which the extra slashmarks may well be required.
