Evan, where you enter the word 'localhost' (which is just a reference to your own computer) depends on the eMail client program you are using. For example in Outlook Express 6 the sequence to follow would be:
 
Tools --> Accounts --> Mail (tab) --> Properties --> Server (tab)
 
Then enter the word localhost into the field: Incoming mail (POP3)
 
More generally. 'localhost' becomes your POP3 server, instead of something like mail.mymailserver.com or pop.mymailserver.com or whatever.
