1). Yes they do.  Betcha ya got it from a spammer.  ;o)

 2).  That's why confirmed opt-in is so important.  If someone 'forgets' he opted in 
the sender will (or at least *should*) have the confirming email approving future 
mailings.

 3).  "Abusive" spammers are 3rd rate hucksters selling shoddy 
merchandise/services/etc. to unwitting people.  They have ruined the concept of bulk 
emails properly targeted sent by legitimate business.

I don't know if I received your email or not, but if I did - apology accepted.  As 
long as you learned from your mistakes that's all we can ask.  If you business has a 
web site you might consider collecting your own email list, using confirmed opt-in.

Be sure the 'powers-that-be' over your Internet connection know in advance you've got 
a confirmed opt-in list and will promptly unsubscribe anyone that requests removal.  
I'll bet they'd work with you if/when someone forgets that they DID request mailings 
from you.
