Same problem. (also generated immense quantities of bizarre conflicts which kept crashing the Conflict Resolver) Tried what you suggested. Not working. This sync is taking absolutely forever. Told iSync to ignore events over 6 months old, and it's still syncing and resyncing many-years-gone stuff. Told Spanning Sync not to sync contacts (I just need them to sync from iPhone to Mac contacts, don't need them on Google). And yet it's still doing it. Reset Spanning Sync. Still taking forever and ever.
