This is probably one of two things: 1) the iCal cache file or 2) the
Apple Sync Services database.

For 1, you can do this (in Leopard):

* Quit iCal if open
* Make sure nothing is syncing
* Delete these items:

~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Cache
~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Sync Changes

* Sync

For 2, you can do this:

* Quit out of all open programs
* Make sure that nothing is syncing (Spanning Sync, .Mac, iSync)
* Move this folder to the trash: ~/Library/Application Support/
SyncServices
* Restart
* Open iCal and give it a few minutes to write out the new database

I would try 1, and if that doesn't work then 2.
