This may not work for everyone but i rely on mobileme for the over the air sync. Spanningsync takes care of google and when things get synced to my mac they get pushed over the air to my phone. Works great and amazon has discounted mobileme subscriptions to cut the costs down.
Hopefully in the future apple will open over the air syncing or at least push notifications then i wont need me.com for anything.
