Not understanding what calendars have to do with syncing, I performed this advice against my better judgement. Now, during the 'Upgrading iCal calendars', it just sits there, eternally 'updating'. I have left it for two hours, and nothing has changed. iCal is still usable I suppose... I can enter events and such. However, the 'Upgrading' progress bar is still on my screen. It is full, so in theory, should be done, BUT it is still there. I disabled Spanning Sync before doing this, thinking that if SS tried to sync in the middle of it, something would get screwy...
