Here is how I was able to fix the WebKit problem:
Downloaded the Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (Intel) from Apple.
Mounted the disk image and opened a terminal window and typed:
'sudo installer -pkg 'location of the update pkg' -target
LocalSystem' (The pkg GUI installer would crash)
Did a restart and all worked fine and dandy.
