Hi Andy, MobileMe and Spanning Sync aren't related, except in the sense that they are both sync services on your computer that sync with a server. You can safely remove the MobileMe menu icon by command-dragging it out of the menu. You can also turn it on and off from the Sync tab of the MobileMe pref pane.
