It sounds like you should be using Gmail compatibility mode. You can
find more info here:

http://spanningsync.com/help/contacts/compatibility-mode/

To switch between compatibility modes:

* Open the Spanning Sync pref pane
* In the "Contacts" tab, uncheck and then re-check "Sync contacts"
* Choose "Preserve Gmail compatibility"
* Click "OK"

To update your Google contacts to display properly in other apps and
devices, just make some small change to one of your Address Book
contacts and then sync. This will force a "push" sync, during which
your Google contacts will be switched from Address Book compatibility
mode to Gmail compatibility.

Please let me know if you have any questions or run into any
problems.

Thanks,
Charlie
