I have exactly the same issue. Sending you the troubleshooting report,
gave me the following solution:
"It looks like Google Calendar is experiencing an outage with your
account. Several other users have reported similar issues over the
last 24 hours, so I suspect Google is making upgrades behind the
scenes. I recommend waiting a few hours and trying again. These
sporadic outages usually don't last very long. Please let me know if
you have any questions or run into any problems."

Problems have not been solved and because I use my iPhone, iCal and
Google Calendar to update my agenda, I can no longer trust Spanning
Sync because it messes up everything.

Please come up with decent solution.
