Hi Bill, I'm doing it the same way... and also these calendar entries are synced to my device.
BUT: The information in the contact itself is missing on the device... so when I want to know when Person X has birthday, I am not able to look into my contact's profile on the device, because it's not getting synced by google contacts (using google android phone which syncs with google contacts). But thank you very much anyway!
