Upon hearing I could setup iCal to sync with Google Calendar, then setup my iPhone to get over-the-air updates, I was thrilled. I didn't want to hand Apple $99 per year for this functionality. So, I set it up and here's what happened:
I get meeting invites all the time. Several a day in fact. You cannot drag meeting invite .ics file onto a Goole Calendar in iCal...an error is generated. The only work around I've found is dragging the invite to a non-google calendar, then cut and paste it into the Google Calendar in iCal. Annoying but it works. Google Calendar online is updated and almost immediately the event shows up on my phone. Here's the problem. When I paste an event into a Google Calendar in iCal, Google Calendar online send out a meeting invite to everyone on the attendee list...as if it were my meeting! It gets worse...every time I open the event in iCal just to look at it, Google Calendar online sends out a meeting invite update to everyone. These are not even my meetings, but people are getting meeting update invites from me. Man, in a business environment, hijacking someone meeting is an easy way to look like an ass. I'm giving Spanning Sync a try and so far no issues. Meetings seem to take a bit longer to show up on my phone for some reason, but otherwise it's awesome. -Jeff --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Spanning Sync" group.
