The only thing I can think of that could cause that is if Google didn't report it as new or updated correctly to Spanning Sync when the sync ran. I don't know why that would happen, but we have seen some strange behavior from Google over the last few days (I think they're updating the code on their back-end) so that could be the culprit.
If you're worried that something else might be out of sync, you can force everything to sync again (merging your iCal and Google Calendars) by clicking Start Over the in the Advanced tab of the pref pane.
