Marco-

The current version of Spanning Sync uses version 2.0 of the Google
Contacts API, which doesn't support individual fields for street,
city, state, postal code, and country. Google gives us the address as
a single string, leaving us to try to guess which words go in which
fields. Our parser works well for US and Canadian addresses but isn't
nearly as good at recognizing those from other countries.

The good news is that Spanning Sync v3.0, soon to enter beta, uses
new version of Google's API which supports "structured" data. We've
tested it using the setup you describe: Mac<->Google<->iPhone (via
ActiveSync) and it works very well. (Unfortunately, other sync apps--
and even Google Contacts itself--don't yet support this new
functionality and can move data to the wrong fields. We're hoping
Google will fix that soon.)

Watch the Spanning Sync Blog (blog.spanningsync.com) and this forum
for the Spanning Sync 3.0 beta and launch announcements.

Thanks,
Charlie
