Hi Bart, Do you have default alarms turned on in iCal preferences? If so, Spanning Sync will create the default alarm when it syncs new events. iCal default alarms are always the "message with sound" type. In the upcoming 3.0.1 update, default alarms are handled a little differently so that they aren't created for calendars where you have Spanning Sync syncing alarms.
