Hi Steve, There's no difference between a trial account and a paid license. The only difference is that the trial account expires after 15 days.
Spanning Sync uses a 1-to-1 pairing when syncing calendars. For example, if you have 5 iCal calendars you're wanting to sync, you must have 5 Google calendars to pair them with. You also cannot pair multiple iCal calendars with a single Google calendar. I'm assuming your one Google calendar is greyed out because you've already paired it with an iCal calendar. To pair up more iCal calendars you'll need to login to your Google Calendar account, using your web browser, and create more calendars. Once you've done that you'll be able to pair up more iCal calendars for syncing. Please let me know if you have any questions or problems.
