If you run OS X 10.7.2 and have activated syncing iCal calender <--> iCloud, syncing adressbook <--> Google contacts does not work, even you will not see any error message.
You must stop iCloud sync for contacts AND calendar (!), to be able syncing your contacts data again with google.
