Yes but either way you should be able to boot the kernel,
misconfiguration of root would bite you when you attempt to mount / go
multiuser.

I have changed the tftp server to a FreeBSD machine and it's still coming up with the same error.

Basically the tftp server's log file is stating "no route to host".

What should the exact layout of the tftpboot dir look like?

As shown I have ofwboot.net linked to the HEX of the IP address, with other files residing in the directory.

This is fine but it seems that it isn't enough that I either need to link the bsd.mp file or do something else that I'm not aware of like configuring bootp for dhcp or so?
