Hi,
I bought an XAUI card (Sun 501-7489 10GB Ethernet), inserted it into
RISER1, then RISER0, and the error now is gone. However, the
motherboard is still in the faulted state with the following errors:
SUN4-8000-LY
SUN4V-8000-L5
The server seems to work fine, and I'm not hoping to fix the above
errors. I'm just dropping a note for those interested.
Still for those interested, to make my primary domain (Solaris 11.3)
recognize the interface, I had to:
# ldm set-var fix-xaui=yes primary
# ldm rm-var fix-xaui primary
In my switch (Mikrotik CSS326-24G-2S+RM), I inserted the Sun Oracle
530-4449-01 10Gbit MM SR 850nm SPF module, and connected the two with a
MM LC/UPC fiber optic cable. My logical domain OpenBSD 7.6 has a
virtual network interface that is bridged to this XAUI. Works good!
For a test, I assigned this XAUI to OpenBSD, that reports it as "niu",
but offers no driver. This is not surprising, because it's an unusual
card. I haven't seen anything like this before.
I'm impressed by the hardware and its virtualization, and that OpenBSD
works so excellent. But I can't help thinking, that it's a beautiful
road to nowhere.
Best,
Irek

Hi,
I have a Sun Oracle Netra T5220. The server worked fine with OpenBSD
7.5, but after installing Solaris, now OpenBoot reports:
ERROR: The following devices are disabled:
MB/RISER1/XAUI1
MB/RISER0/XAUI0
So in ILOM, I try:
-> set /SYS/MB/RISER1/XAUI1 component_state=disabled
set: Invalid target /SYS/MB/RISER1/XAUI1
Next I try:
-> show /SP/faultmgmt/
/SP/faultmgmt
Targets:
shell
0 (/SYS/MB/RISER1/XAUI1)
1 (/SYS/MB/RISER0/XAUI0)
However, ILOM faultmgmt shell reports no faults.
In the ILOM logs I read:
SP detected fault at time Fri Dec 20 15:53:00
2024. /SYS/MB/RISER0/XAUI0 Forced fail (POST)
I would appreciate it if someone could help me out how to get rid of
this error. In those slots (XAUIO and XAUI1) I have no card
installed.
Best,
Irek
