GCC and SPARC Kernels

What's the scoop on building SPARC Kernels and which version(s) of  
GCC to use?

I've got:
        GCC 3.3.6
        GCC 3.4.6
        GCC 4.0.4
        GCC 4.1.2

and intend to build:

        2.6.17, 18, 19 and 20-rc7

for my little old SparcBlade 100.

Anyone out there have hints about which combinations are known to be  
either bad or good?
