The parameter for X!Tandem is “spectrum, threads”. Set that to 8 or whatever is appropriate for your machine.
The parameter for Comet is “num_threads”. The default is 0, which is to detect how many CPUs you have and use them all. Or you can set it to a number you like. I don’t know the state of multithreading of other TPP tools as of 5.1. But they’re a lot faster than the searching anyway.
