Thanks for that, it doesn't make any difference to the running of spdmetrics I 
had planned to put a scheme for the metrics XML at that location and I did 
briefly make a basic very but I haven't done it properly as of yet - another 
thing which is 'on the list'. 

There is an xml file in /docs on the code repo (see bitbucket) which lists all 
the available commands with comments providing some help.
