I don't have a strong preference though I prefer not to see repeated/not-relevant part of previous posts.
That said, it is not up to me - for some reason my provider had decided to just indent without the > on a normal web client, and the > only happens replying from a mobile client. So the choice is between not quoting or full quoting (without editing) typing on an android phone, or just confusing indentations from normal (in which case I will *definitely* top post just to separate new from old.). I'd just prefer people to remove parts of previous posts not relevant to current discussion. posting to lkml or any of the kernel dev lists is a different matter: I use git-send-email for that.
