Good point and agree this would be broadly useful.  This could be added as a
separate URL or UI option in the web page.  I would like this to be in
addition to parsing the general SPDX document.  If it doesn't fit into the
schedule for this project, we should be able to leverage the implementation
to add a license expression parser and validator.

 

I just created an issue in the SPDX tools to add some functionality to make
this easier to implement: https://github.com/spdx/tools/issues/91

I'd like to see an online validation tool to validate *just* license
expressions.  E.g., are all the licenses known?  Is the expression valid
(OR, AND, etc.)?  Bonus points: Make it trivial to automate - Send in with a
trivial URL, replies with an easily-parsed answer.

 

I don't often need to process a whole SPDX file, but *license expressions*
are absolutely valuable for my use cases.
