Currently, there isn’t a standard tool to insert the ID’s that I am aware of.
We have some projects this summer that will cover parsing and reporting on ID’s
in the files, but not generating them.

Thanks Gary, my question is, should that process be manually done or is there
an automated process to do that?

Hi Nuvadga,

It is considered a best practice to add the SPDX license ID to all source
files. This helps retain the license information if a source file is ever
copied to another package.

Subject: [spdx-tech] Newbie

Hi Everyone,

I am Nuvadga Christian, interested in, yet new to the SPDX community. I'm look
forward to learning and getting up to speed in my quest to contribute to the
mission of SPDX.

First off, I am working on a project and I'm trying to use spdx identifiers
at the file level. So do I have to manually place the license identifier in
each source file?

Thanks
