All, We have created a set of test files for use in testing license scanners. The files themselves were auto generated and somewhat simplistic and brute force. The idea was to gauge interest in something like this and have a way to test scanners for matching against licenses on the spdx license list. The original idea was to create both good (detectable) licenses and then bad or versions of those licenses slightly different so that they would fail the matching guidelines and therefore should be detected as a unique license instance. Only the good ones have been done.
The files are (for now) in a tarball in the spdx project here: https://github.com/spdx/license-test-files There has been some ongoing discussion between myself, Gary and Trevor concerning the scope of the files, what we really need and so forth. Instead of discussing this only on the issues list we want to broaden the discussion the mail list. There are a lot of good ideas for moving this forward. We would like to discuss this as a topic on the tech call tomorrow and then from there summarize it and put it out on the list. You can get a feel for what's being discussed by following this issue tracker: https://github.com/spdx/license-test-files/issues/2 Thanks and best regards, Jack Manbeck
