Why do we Need SPDX for Functional Safety? Functional safety requires understanding for a specific system, what the components used are, how they were built, put together, and configured - and then show how they satisfy safety requirements. SBOMs can handle a lot of this today but are missing understanding of documentation and requirements. In this talk we'll show how we can leverage SPDX to help automate the analysis of the safety artifacts and be precise on what needs to be retested when a vulnerability is fixed in one of the components.
