Another server was infected with what I'm calling the webtop virus. It took
1 1/2 days for the webtop to stop functioning and suck up the cpu whenever
the /allaire/spectra/webtop/index.cfm page is called (or any other page for
that matter). I attempted upsizing the policy and user databases on one of
the other "infected" servers but there was no way for me to go back into
"step 4" (per knowledge base article) to test security as the CPU
immediately shot up to 100% so I assume it didn't work. BTW, the Forta
Spectra book and the knowledge base article do not match when it comes to
the instructions on upsizing.
This time the server and the database were not on the same box. Does anyone
think this scenario could cause this problem--Two users concurrently
accessing the webtop as the same user (both as administrator). I would
think that could be confusing if they were in different applications, but
wouldn't the problem resove itself after they both closed their browsers or
one logged in as another user. The downfall of the webtop seemed to
correspond with this scenario although it's hard to pinpoint. Another thing
to note is that once I stop/start CF, we can use CF and Spectra as long as
we don't hit the webtop; therefore, I've been writing scripts (rewriting the
webtop) to perform any functions we need. One option is to completely
disable security in the webtop -- does anyone have a good process for doing
this? I'm at a loss. I won't take up any more of your time, I just thought
I'd make one last plea for ideas as we're out of servers to move our
development to.
Thanks,
Beth
